Keith caught a cold virus around the New Year, and it's been disrupting our sleep quite a bit the last week or so. Well, him and a certain two year old who can't hold it in all night long, but at least she doesn't pee in her bed, right? Early Tuesday morning, he told me he thought it was turning into a sinus infection, so yesterday we packed the kids and I took him to the doctor. The doctor said, yes you have a sinus infection, here's your drugs, and sent us on our merry way.
Now, we had plans last night, which included celebrating the birthday of our favorite librarian.
Maybe I should start with the fact that I can never tell how sick Keith actually is based on his actions. He pretty much lays in bed, and I leave him alone, because he's a guy. This has worked well for the entire time we've been living together.
Yesterday, he did not eat anything. At all. He stayed in bed and slept for most of the day. I let him be, thinking he would be well enough to go to dinner. About a half hour before the baby sitter was due to arrive, he had me take his temp, and it was quite high, so no dinner for him.
When I got home from all the festivities and taking the sitter home, his temp seemed normal. After two HUGE glasses of red wine with a very large Italian dinner AND a pint of beer, I was pretty damn tired, so I went to sleep.
Around 3:30am this morning, I was awakened by a loud crash. I noticed the bathroom light was on and Keith was not in bed with me. I called his name, and he responded from the bathroom floor. He had fallen, bumping his head in the process. He tells me he's okay, then passes out WITH HIS EYES OPEN. He does not respond to me at all, even though I'm screaming in his ear.
I run back to the nightstand by the bed where our phones are, and grab one, running back to him quickly. Of course, I grab his phone, the one I never use and am not familiar with. I'm frantic, screaming at him. He tells me he's fine, and starts responding to me again. I told him it was like he was passed out with his eyes open, and he said that's what it feels like.
He was out for less than 20 seconds; I didn't even have time to unlock his phone to dial 911.
He tells me he just wants to go back to bed so he can pass out again. Yeah, right, like I'm going to help him do THAT! He tells me he bumped his head when he fell, so I check his pupils to rule out concussion, just as a precaution. I tell him to stay where he's at and run down to get some orange juice, and make him drink it and rest a bit before I help him back to bed.
Did I mention that I was so freaked out I was crying? Yeah. And I'm really surprised that my screaming didn't wake one of the kids.
So I don't really go back to sleep for over an hour, because I'm so scared. He actually walked back to bed under his own power, otherwise I would have woken the kids myself, packed them up and taken him to the ER, four in the morning be damned.
Why do all the emergencies happen in the middle of the night? Could someone please tell me that?
So today, I've been a total bossy bitch to him. I brought him a glass of orange juice after feeding the kids breakfast, made him drink that. I fixed a pear for him after taking Matthew to pre-school, and told him he was eating it whether he wanted to or not. For lunch, I told him he HAD to eat something, and he picked a slice of toast.
He did get out of bed this morning, although he laid down on the floor with pillows to watch TV. Around 2pm, he took a bath, then went downstairs and voluntarily ate some almonds and raisins and drank another glass of orange juice, then laid down on the couch to watch TV downstairs.
I talked to my favorite nurse, and she recommended Gatorade in addition to watching him closely, so I fixed him some. When I brought it to him, he asked for a brownie (that was fresh out of the oven), and he's complaining about how bossy I am today. I think he's feeling better now.
But I'm tired, and feel like crying. I don't think I've ever been that scared. Ever.

sigh
So the computer that died the other night? Yeah, that was our server for the family website. All of the content is gone...
We still have all the pictures on a different computer, thank the IPU, but Keith lost all of his content, and I doubt we can get it back, which totally sucks because he had some really awesome posts.
And...
My sister is getting a divorce.
Apparently we should have done our drinking at the end of the weekend instead of at the beginning. Bleh.

*sigh*
I did it, finally.
I know, I know, I'm WAY behind the times. And Fate, you can stop laughing now.
Dammit. I said I wasn't going to join, but I did. Sue me.
You can find me on twitter (yes, twitter) now.
hoochimama, if you really want to know how much my kids are driving me crazy.
gah. I may just shoot myself, really.

In which there was cake...
Boob cake!*

Spyder has a complete list of everyone who showed up last night. I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and good luck wishes for the upcoming surgery. You guys are the best!
*For anyone who wants to know, we got our cake from Vivian. I'm gonna see if she can do a Thomas the Tank Engine cake for Matt's birthday in August. Cause he would L.O.V.E. that!

Since none of can be bothered to check Spyder's genius, most of us just copied her post about the upcoming meetup.
The correct address for the Levee is 16 W. 43rd St., Kansas City, MO. We'll be on the patio, with cake!

Regaining myself
Faith, I know I promised you this post months ago, but for various reasons, I'm only now getting around to it.
As many of you who read this blog on a regular basis, I've recently lost the extra weight that I had after Josie was born. Sadly, my boobs went with the weight. I went from this:

And anything you see in the last picture is mainly from Vicky's. My actual boobs don't fill a B cup anymore.
So, calls were made, , research was done, money put aside, and consultations were had.
Then my shower broke. Fortunately, our neighbor is going to help us fix it, and we have a shower downstairs that we've been using, so there's no urgency to get it fixed. *whew*
So I now have pre-surgery appointment with Dr. Bennett on Friday, April 25th (two days before my birthday!), and hopefully by the end of today I will have an appointment for surgery on Wednesday, May 14th.
I'm so excited! May's going to be a busy month anyway, but I really wanted to get this done before summer officially starts.

stupid stupid stupid
I'd bang my head on the wall expressing my frustration with my own stupidity, but my head already hurts, thankyouverymuch.
Actually, right now, the head isn't hurting hardly at all, but it was hurting this morning. I'm pretty sure the reason is hormonal (it's THAT time, apparently), but the puking this morning, that was TOTALLY because I had one vodka drink and two Crown drinks last night!
STUPID! Never ever mix your alcohols! I knew this! gah.
We started off with some friends of mine down at the Angel Rock Bar, but after they 'lost' his VIP reservation we didn't get a table (even though we still got in for free, after NOT waiting in line, just TOO COOL!), so we wound up leaving there. They were all going way the fuck out to BFE Grain Valley, so we went and hooked up with everyone's favorite nurse for her birthday festivities.
Damn, that was fun! I paid for it today, but it was totally worth it!
Keith and I are out again tonight with a friend that visiting all the way from England, but I am SO not drinking. Well, I'm sure I'll have at least one shot, because it is, after all, the Memorial of Christ's Death and all that. Nisan 14th, the actual day Jesus died for our sins. The JW's one and only holiday they *sorta* celebrate. Now we just need some pizza to qualify as our unleavened bread, and we can have our own "memorial"!

Freedom!
After being cooped up in the house with two sick boys for almost two days, I was going nuts! Keith is finally well enough to sorta help with the kids (he can feed them and change any diapers that need changing), so I escaped over to a friend's house this afternoon just to enjoy the quiet!
I'm also going out tonight with my favorite librarian and my little bro. We're going down to the new KC Power & Light District to check it out.
If we get lost, send in the search parties! I'm not driving, so I plan on being VERY tipsy.

tagged by Miss Spyder
and M. Toast, apparently. Stupid sinus infection!
a. list seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself
b. tag seven people to do the same
c. do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it"
1. I'm a natural blonde. I CHOOSE to be a red-head! And it looks way better on me.
2. If I don't tan, I get glow-in-the-dark white. Seriously. And tanning helps with the SAD.
3. Every Monday night Keith and I put the kids to bed early and watch a movie. This is something new that we've started doing in the last two months, but I think we'll keep it.
4. I have acrylic nails. Every two weeks I get a 'fill'. I'm sure I could save a lot of money every year if I did not do this (or at least did it myself), but it's something I do for me. Pampering myself, if you will. (When I was pregnant, both times, I also got a pedicure at least once a month.) Keith has NEVER complained!
5. Camping for me involves room service.
6. I love wearing high heel shoes. LOVE! Well, except during the summer when I'm wearing flip-flops. Even then, I have sandals with high heels that I wear when I go out.
7. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I let other people decide what color my toenails should be. They're currently purple, btw. Other times, I let people vote on what my next hair style should be!
There. I hope those are quirky enough for everyone! And since everyone has already been tagged, I don't care what the third rule is, I'm not tagging anyone!

Crazy Life.
So a few weeks ago, right about the time this was going on, I had one of the most stressful weeks I've ever had in my entire life. It was about three months worth of stress condensed into 1 1/2 weeks.
I'm happy to report that pretty much everything has worked itself out. And even though we're still working with Matthew's school to figure out what, exactly, was causing his behavior and, of course, all the monetary stress that Christmas brings, I'm so full of happiness I swear I'm glowing. I walk around with a big goofy smile on my face almost all the time.
Several things are contributing to my general state of happiness, and they need to be acknowledged, imo.
I've made some new friends, one of which looks like it will turn into a lasting friendship.
I've reconnected with two friends that were in my wedding, including the one who was in BOTH of my weddings.
I've had a friendship deepen with someone I wanted to get to know better, and it's just as good as I thought it would be.
Another friend of mine that lives in Ottawa, Canada, recently emailed me, and we may have a chance to reconnect as well. (She was also in my wedding.)
A few weekends ago I got to volunteer at Harvesters with several other local bloggers. I've never volunteered before, but always wanted to, and I had a great time. As soon as the kids are old enough, I will be taking them with me at least once a year. I think it's so important to teach our children how very lucky they are and that other people don't have the same advantages that they have.
This past year has been a year of discovery for me, totally changing several of my views about myself. The growing pains have truly sucked, but I think I'm definitely on the upswing of things now, and I feel truly blessed (by the IPU and the FSM, of course) to have as my mate someone who not only accepts the new me, but encouraged me every step of the way to follow my heart and become the new me. And he loaned me his shoulder to cry on during the growing pains.
A lot has happened in the last year. I wouldn't change it for anything!

last day of the month
Thank the IPU!
I will be so happy to go back to posting whenever I feel like it! The quality of my posts should go up as well.
Tonight, I baked chocolate chip cookies, and tomorrow I will be heading over with several other local bloggers to Harvesters to volunteer some of my time away. The beer afterwards should be good too.
Later, peeps!

Another day, another post.
Not too much excitement at Casa de Sader today. Laundry and cleaning, watching the Chiefs lose, etc....
Spyder did come over and get her hair colored after the game, though, that was nice. I enjoy doing hair and talking to other adults. Especially the talking to other adults. Keith is nice, but he's usually distracting the kids while I hide from them.
Oh, and Keith and I had a great time last night. My alcohol tolerance is definitely improving. YAY!

Joining the masses.
Yeah, I think I'm going to UN-officially do the whole NaBloPoMo thing that Heather's doing.
It sounds challenging, but not in a write-an-entire-novel-in-a-month type of way.

You can hide, but I'll still find you!
My sis has started her own blog! Yay!
I rarely get to talk to her anymore, our schedules are just too crazy. (Okay, HER schedule is just way too crazy.) She reads my blog(s) and keeps up with my life, now I get to read hers and keep up with her and her dogs. YAY!
Be warned, her blog is not for the faint of heart, though. Her second post was all about how to butcher a deer. Don't mess with her!
Did I mention how excited I am about this? *squeeeee*
