a day in the life of a mom...

So today started out pretty uneventful. Matt wanted to go to the 'big' pool (ie Grandview's public pool vs the kiddie pool in the driveway) so I told him we would go if it didn't rain. We made it to the pool, but not before a trip to the Emergency Room at what used to be Baptist Medical Center (it's now part of Research).

Why? I'm so glad you asked!

Josie decided it would be fun (I'm guessing, not really sure how a two year old decides things) to put a piece of broken chalk up her right nostril. Much screaming ensued. After I figure out why the hell she's crying and sticking her finger up her nose, I called her pediatrician, but they can't get her in until after 2pm today. It's like 10:30 am, and there is no way in hell I'm waiting that long. So I packed everyone in the car and we head off to the ER. Josie, of course, falls asleep on the way there, so I stop at McDonald's and pick up lunch because I KNOW Matt will start bitching about how hungry he is the moment the car stops. If not before.

So I'm filling out the form, and the kids are eating lunch in the waiting room. Josie is no longer screaming in pain. In fact, she's running around like she's just fine and dandy, and there is no longer any chalky substance coming out of her nose. Being the paranoid mom that I am, I decided to go ahead and have the doctor look at her anyway.

Of course the chalk has managed to desolve by this point. The doctor said there was still a bit of residue and a small scratch, but she was fine. Cost for my peace of mind: $75 co pay.

Thanks to the awesome nurse Monty, the kids had balloons to play with:

He even got Josie to put the heart monitor on her finger, no screaming! I was very impressed. Josie even wore her pretty bracelet for most of the visit.

Stopping to get food was the smartest move I made. Neither kid cried or screamed, and both behaved for the hour we were there. And it was only an hour. It was 11:26am when we checked in, and it was 12:25pm when we got to the car, which was parked right outside the door.

We came home, I updated Keith, packed the swimsuits, sunscreen and towels, and we headed to the pool.

Of course, since I left the sunroof open on the car, it started raining a little after 3pm, so we had to come home.

I'm exhausted.

Almost Spring

My flowers are *kinda* starting to pop up.

My tulips.

Columbine

Day Lily

The space in front that has over 100 bulbs in it.

The iris I planted last year.

I took these pictures almost a week ago, and everything has greened up even more, and several of the bulbs have popped up in the front as well. I can't wait until that patch is all green with plants!

And this is a picture that Matthew (Matthew!) took of his mommy that day.

Stupid Weather.

It's March 15th. Wednesday, it was so nice we went to the park and didn't wear our jackets! Josie had to do what all the big kids were doing, so she learned how to walk on the concrete wall all by herself.

Yesterday was my nail appointment, and we both got our toes done up for St. Patrick's Day. Aren't these the cutest green toes you've ever seen?!

My toes aren't nearly as cute. But they're green none-the-less.

Today, despite the SNOW, we took the kids to the Garmin annual Easter Egg hunt. Because of the weather, it was held inside, not that our kids cared, they still refused to take their coats off. They had the kids hunt in age groups, so I took Josie and Keith took Matthew.

She figured out pretty quickly the name of the game!

Josie's haul (and Keith's hand):

Matt's haul:

The prize bunny basket that Josie won and both of the baskets:

Happy boy!

Too busy eating candy to smile for mommy:

Yes, the Godless Atheist Heathens took their kids on an Easter Egg Hunt! The irony does not escape me, but damn! the kids had so much fun! And that's what it's all about, right?

It's definitely winter.

Blah. I hate cold. I hate being cold, I hate having a cold (now turned into a sinus infection, yay!), I hate cold weather with a passion. Sadly, that passion doesn't really keep me warm, either.

In other news, Keith says we're going to get a nice tax refund back from the government. He asked me what I wanted to do with the money, and since I'd forgotten how much he told me we were getting back, I said we could just put it in savings, then figure out what to do with it. He repeated how much we were getting back, then asked me if I wanted to redo our master bath, or get new boobs.

What? Like that's even a choice? We all remember THIS rant, right?

So I'll be calling around starting tomorrow, and set up some consultations. I've already had a couple of recommendations, but if you have any, or any names of doctors I should stay away from, let me know.

And for the record, I'm now down to 130 lbs, but I'm actually smaller than I've ever been in my entire adult life. I had to go jean shopping a few weeks ago, my size 6's were to big! GAH! I HATE jean shopping. I recently bought two new dresses, including this one (in black) for Keith's upcoming work party, and I bought both of them in a size 4! I've NEVER been a size 4 anything! Now my jeans and my dresses are size 4. It's a bit odd getting used to, that's for sure. I still have my curves, thank the IPU. That dress looks way better on me that it does on the model!

Funky Town!

TONIGHT, BITCHEZ!

9pm. I've even got a table reserved!

And seriously, you really think that after all that accuracy predicting the ice storm last week doesn't apply to the 6 inches forecasted tonight? Go check the weather channel, peeps.

Weather in the midwest.

You know the saying 'If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes'? Yeah, that's pretty much what happened to us.

Yesterday (and the day before) was so nice, I wore shorts. Shorts! Today, it snowed.
SNOWED!

That's pretty much all it did, there was no accumulation on the ground or streets, but it was freaking COLD today. Blech.
