The potty-training is not going well.
Well, it went just fine. We prescribe to the Three Day method, because there's usually only two days of hell a parent has to go through before the child 'gets' it.
Josie 'got' it. She's been doing great since Sunday afternoon. Night time is hard, as is pooping. Yesterday I think she only had two accidents all day long. But two accidents a day is easy to deal with.
Today, on the other hand, she's only made it to the bathroom twice. She just stands there looking at me while she pees on the floor. She just doesn't seem to care today.
Positive reinforcement isn't working. Negative reinforcement isn't working. She's clearly old enough to do this on her own, seeing as how she's done it already.
We can't afford diapers anymore. At all. Seeing as how we used all of our on-hand money to pay for our new a/c unit, I'm really not sure how we're going to manage Matt's pre-school tuition. There is no way we have money for diapers or pull-ups.
I don't have a carpet cleaner to clean up all the messes she keeps making, so that's not really an option either.
I need a drink.

"Elmo's Potty Time" DVD worked for us. Almost 2 years ago I took the week off after Christmas and did Potty Boot Camp with my daughter after filling her mind with repetitive "Elmo did it, you can too" propaganda and it seemed to work. I've leant that video to 2 other grateful parents since and it really seems to be the brainwashing they need...good luck. Potty training is intense, not for the weak at heart, but you can do it! Keep updating...
As an expecting mom, I am grateful for these posts! Janet, you have a way with words. Best wishes for Potty Training.
I have a Hoover cleaner. If you guys want to borrow it, let me know. I don't think I have any of the liquid cleaner that goes in it though.
Never had kids, but I tried ti change one once. Just once... and it gave me a new respect for parents.
I wish you luck, and while I don't have a rug cleaner to loan out I DO have a lotta booze that I don't realy drink so much anymore.
Hang in there!
